NOMINATIONS ANNOUNCED FOR THE 2006 GLOBAL MIXX DJ AWARDS

Nominations for the 2nd Annual Global Mixx DJ Awards were announced today. The music awards ceremony will be held on Saturday August 12, 2006 at Park West in Chicago and is attended by more than 1500 DJs, producers, promoters, and record labels executives from across the country. Categories range from top regional DJs and promoters to the most noted record labels and platinum producers. Def Jam Music Group is this year’s sponsor of the Global Mixx DJ Awards.
“This year’s nominees are exceptionally fine and have offered major contributions to urban music,” said Mary Datcher, DJ Retreat founder. “The high quality is especially reflected in the list of nominees.”
Nominees in their respective category were selected based on a number of factors such as career history, public profile, credibility and/or contributions to urban music. The Retreat committee allowed the best in the industry to weigh in on the selection process by secret ballot. The panel included key music industry executives, DJs and promoters.

The Global Mixx DJ Awards Show is part of a myriad of exclusive events taking place this week.
